An update from All Saint’s Church, Hemblington

The Friends of All Saints Church, Hemblington
Many thanks to all who attended the church tour in June and to those who helped make it such a success. We used the new tent, which had been purchased through a grant awarded by the World War One Fund /Norfolk Community Foundation. This will also help stage the exhibition we are planning later in the summer.

1914 – 1918 – What can you remember your family saying about those who went to war?
To help mark the end of the First World War, there will be an exhibition in All Saints Church, about local men who served, and many of whom died, during the conflict. As we approach Remembrance Day one hundred years after that conflict, we wonder whether there are still people living locally who can remember what was said within the family about those who served and perhaps never returned, and how life altered because of the war. If you have a memory or a souvenir from that time, please get in touch. Thank you. Telephone Lynda (01603) 713597 or Sue 715804.

Managing the churchyards for wildlife: lots going on in the churchyard, including cutting and raking by BADCOG and BVCG plus our monthly monitoring of wild flowers, birds, bees and butterflies. If you are interested in getting involved in churchyard conservation, please get in touch. Hemblington@nullgmail.com / 01603 715804

Walking treasure hunt! Thanks very much to the organisers of the Treasure Hunt in May and congratulations to the winners! All who walked the trail from the church, around to Pedham and back to the church, had a thoroughly enjoyable time. As it is such a good way for families and friends to have a bit of exercise, and really look at what is all around us, it has been agreed to keep the treasure hunt going just for fun. The forms are in the church – please put just £2 in the collection jar. No prize for the winners this time, but you will be able to look up the answers on the home page of the church’s website: www.hemblingtonchurch.org.uk
