Friends of All Saints Church, Hemblington
Thanks to all who attended the Group’s AGM recently, and especially to David Clayton for an exhilarating journey through his life in radio. We are keen to encourage all locally, or with a connection to the church, to join the Friends group. Membership is open to all, whether you attend church or not, as it’s all about helping to keep the fabric in good repair. With such an ancient building, the scope for things to deteriorate is unfortunately very great.
Membership is £10 for the year or £100 for life! Corporate support and sponsorship would be very welcome. Please contact Susan on Hemblington@nullgmail.com / (01603) 715804 and see the website: www.hemblingtonchurch.org.uk
Friends are warmly invited to a talk about the history of the church including details of the two archaeological excavations that took place fairly recently – Wednesday, 26th April from 10:00 a.m. This is being held primarily for members of the Bure Valley Conservation Group who cut and rake the northern churchyard for us. They will be doing a plant survey after the talk, so a good opportunity to learn about the many wild flowers growing around the church.
A note for your diary: Saturday afternoon, 12th August. We are planning a tour of three churches locally which have well preserved wall paintings, so apart from the amazing architecture of the medieval buildings, there are glories inside too. More details from the Friend’s Secretary: firstname.lastname@example.org / (01603)715804.
