Keep Blofield Special
In the spring of 2011 it was suggested that a group be formed to ‘Keep Blofield Special’ by endeavouring to protect and enhance our village both north and south.
It was felt that the parish’s history, environment and sense of community were valued by its residents but that these assets would diminish if they were not cared for.
This group would not be part of the Parish Council but would have its support.
To assess whether such a group would attract support a meeting was held in May 2011 at The Courthouse for individuals and representatives of organisations.
Working in conjunction with the Parish Council the group has refurbished the village sign at Blofield crossroads (given to the village by the WI in 1969 to commemorate Blofield WI’s inauguration in 1918) and has organised a replacement seat in Mill Road.
Daffodil bulbs have been planted around the sign and also at entry points to Blofield and Blofield Heath. The bank on North Street between the library and Blofield School has been cleared and planted. School children planted bulbs here and also did their own litter pick in the vicinity of the school. Also some planting by the seat at the top of Danesbower Lane has brightened that area.
Regular litter picks continue to take place and new ideas are discussed at evening meetings. These are advertised in Blofield News and Focal Point and all are welcome to join in.
Blofield Allotment Association
The Association is a friendly group of people who want to grow their own vegetables and fruit and to benefit from the exercise, fresh air and social contact that allotments offer.
